Xentral ERP · So you decide better

What Xentral really does well - and where limits show.

In 2018 I introduced Xentral in my former e-commerce startup - this assessment comes from practice, not from brochures. Compare Xentral in our ERP system overview or start with the ERP services hub.

TL;DR · Xentral at a glance

Who Xentral fits and who it does not.

Four answers from real projects before you keep reading. If one of these points does not match your case, you can skip the rest.

Fits if
You run e-commerce at steady volume, from a small shop with a few dozen orders per month up to senders with several thousand orders, and need shop to invoice without manual steps.
Does not fit if
You want accounting, manufacturing or complex service workflows inside the same system.
Typical outcome
3 to 5 hours per day recovered in fulfillment once order-to-ship runs without breaks.
Realistic effort
License from EUR 99 per month, implementation with onboos from CHF 10,000 depending on channels and process complexity.

Practical review

Xentral in real projects - strengths and limits.

Xentral can be very strong for e-commerce process flow, but not every business model benefits equally.

Stärken

Strong order-to-invoice process

This is Xentral's core strength: an order from a connected shop lands automatically in Xentral, becomes a delivery note, then an invoice - without a manual step in between. For e-commerce teams that want exactly this, Xentral is hard to beat.

Solid multichannel connectivity

Shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon, eBay, Otto - Xentral connects the most common channels in one stack. Orders from multiple sources are consolidated centrally, stock levels stay in sync across channels.

Workflow automation built in

Xentral includes a built-in workflow builder. Order confirmations, status changes, notifications - these can be automated without an external tool, reducing errors and manual overhead in daily operations.

Purchasing and supplier management

Supplier requests, purchase orders, goods receipts - Xentral covers the full purchasing cycle. For businesses running both buying and selling in one system, this works reliably and keeps data in one place.

Integrated returns portal

Xentral includes an integrated returns portal that customers can use directly. Returns are captured in a structured way, processed and tracked in the system - without manual individual entry. For e-commerce teams with high return volumes, a genuine advantage.

Lean by design - no ERP overhead

Xentral is intentionally kept lean. If you need an ERP focused on the essentials - order processing, stock, multichannel - without enterprise-scale complexity, Xentral delivers a clean, focused system.

Grenzen

Learning curve is real

Xentral looks modern, but the logic takes adjustment. Where settings live, how processes connect - this does not emerge intuitively. Without guidance during rollout, teams lose significant time finding their way.

Warehouse depth is limited

Xentral is not a WMS. Multiple warehouse locations are possible, but complex warehouse structures, pick-path optimization and bin-level logic are not its strength. Teams needing advanced warehouse operations will hit limits here.

Batch and serial number tracking is weak

Batch and serial number management in Xentral is very basic. Businesses that genuinely need this - food, medical devices, electronics - will not be satisfied. If batch or serial traceability is central to your operations, evaluate ERP systems with stronger lot tracking logic early.

Accounting is not a full finance suite

Xentral covers preparatory accounting and export formats, but it is not a full financial accounting module. Teams needing integrated bookkeeping will need an external accountant or a dedicated finance tool alongside it.

Unser Fazit

Xentral is a strong option for e-commerce teams focused on lean execution and automation. Teams needing deep warehouse or finance depth should compare alternatives early.

What teams report after implementation

Real project feedback from operational e-commerce teams.

From Shopify chaos to ERP transparency
«Shopify couldn't track our inventory properly - we needed an ERP. When orders exploded, our small team had no time to set up Xentral ourselves. onboos was recommended by Xentral and implemented everything professionally and with industry-specific expertise. Our workflows are optimized now and we finally have operational transparency.»

Direct answers

The questions decision-makers ask first. Our practical answers.

Cost, fit and implementation risk are usually the key topics before final ERP selection.

Vendor-neutral recommendation
Hands-on Xentral rollout background
We recommend alternatives when needed

Mostly e-commerce teams with clear process ownership and multichannel operations.

Licenses are only one part. Data migration, process design and rollout support drive total cost.

With structured preparation many teams go live in a few months, while weak data prep causes delays.

Then we say it directly and suggest alternatives based on your process requirements.

Why this assessment helps

I know Xentral from the inside - and from the outside.

I introduced Xentral in 2018 - in my own e-commerce startup. We wanted to connect our WooCommerce store and POS system in one central ERP. So I know not just the theory, but also what it feels like when a rollout gets rough - and what it takes to make it work. I wrote down the full story.

Since 2022 we are a Xentral Partner - the first agency from Switzerland. Since 2025 as a Software Partner, including with sendlix.io, our own carrier platform for Swiss logistics providers. This combination - hands-on experience, partner status, tested integrations - makes the difference.

And if Xentral is not the right fit for your business, we say so. In the first call, before you spend anything. We are vendor-neutral - and have no incentive to recommend the wrong system.
